DESCRIPTION

The Madden franchise continues its long tradition of realistic football simulations in Madden NFL 98. Choose from any one of the 30 NFL teams, appropriately apportioned by their respective talent level at the end of the 1997 NFL season. Players can also choose one of several "classic" teams from past seasons and recreate a "what if" scenario between teams from different eras. In total, there are over 100 current and classic teams to choose from. Rosters are completely customizable. Players can substitute any player on the field from the team's roster before and during games, and can program the computer to substitute specific players in individual game situations. A Front Office mode allows players to trade and release team members while a new Create Player option allows users to create a new player or insert themselves into the game.

Madden NFL 98 also records all statistics during the season mode, so users can accurately keep track of their players and teams rankings during the season. Players will also notice the improved AI, as the computer opponent learns individual tendencies as the game goes on. New 3D rendered graphics allow for smoother gameplay and special moves such as stiff-arms, spin moves, dive-tackles, and hurdling increase the realism of the players. ~ Joshua Hoffman, All Game Guide
