EA Sports' powerhouse football franchise kicks off on a new field of play in this launch title for the Nintendo DS. While the 3D action seen in the top screen might look and feel familiar to fans of earlier Madden console games, the bottom screen is used for browsing the playbook, calling plays and audibles, manipulating the kicking meter, and other auxiliary activities. The dual screens also allow players to see more of the field at once, with all 22 players displayed on the bottom and the ball-focused action shown on top. Like the 128-bit console versions of Madden Football 2005, this game features the full roster of NFL teams and players, based on the 2004-2005 season, and offers multiple modes of play.
