EA Sports updates its popular football series with Madden NFL 2002 for Game Boy Color. All 31 NFL teams from the 2000 season are included as well as an All-Madden team of star players. As in previous games, the action is played from an overhead view of a vertical field. Compete in an exhibition game, battle through a 16-game regular season, or jump directly to the playoffs.

Over 150 different plays are available from a variety of formations on offense and defense. Make substitutions, set audibles, or call a no-huddle offense while leading your team to victory. Season and playoff progress can be resumed via password, and quarter length can be set to five, ten, or 15 minutes.
