Loony Labyrinth combines modern style, full speed computer pinball with the nostalgic, old flavor aspect of tables dating from decades past. Sound in the game is designed to capture the noise and clatter of a steel ball running through the obstacles on an arcade pinball machine and the designers created game play to emulate the "feel" of an old-fashioned machine.
Game play is controlled by a few simple keystrokes, fewer then found in many computer pinball simulations. Loony Labyrinth supports up to four players and includes standard pinball fare such as nudging the table and recording high scores. The playing field and themes found in the game are unique and contain specific interconnected features. In fact, the manual contains two pages of game strategy, tips and rules as well as ten detailed schematic drawings with keys to cover all the possibilities encountered during game play.
The game includes three ramps, three kinds of multi-ball play and three flippers. It features play-action voices and a two-stage approach to progression through the game. Goals at the beginning of the game are attained by skillful manipulation of the ball in relation to ramps, lanes and bumpers and is basically for the novice player. The second stage requires reaching sequential goals and battling time constraints and builds on a Greek mythology theme. Loony Labyrinth is part of the Pinball Madness collection by Encore Software. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
