DESCRIPTION
Links LS 2000 brings 17 years of golf simulation development experience to your home computer. This edition of the game, first released in 1999 for IBM compatibles, is a special version by Microsoft Corporation. The standards of excellence for which the program has been awarded numerous accolades (including the Codie Award and PC Magazine's Editor Choice Award among others) in past years are yet again ingrained in the simulation with a few new wrinkles added as well.
This millennium edition contains five new courses, four new golfers, five new MOPS (Modes of Play), commentary by pro golfer David Feherty (CBS analyst) and a reworked St. Andrews Old Course, site of the Millennium Open. As usual, older courses released for previous editions of Links can be converted for play with Links LS 2000 with more than 25 available.
The look of the surrounding environment on the courses has been improved with a new image capturing system and with the addition of Fuzzy Zoeller and three other golfers, there are now 12 from which to choose. The new MOPS bring the total number of play modes to 35 and includes the special Fuzzy Zoeller's Wolf Challenge as well as tournament play. New sky backgrounds blend with the course horizons and have been designed to increase realism.
A new teaching mode designed for novices walks players through the four varied swing modes (PowerStroke and one-, two- and three-click methods) and the game features a new Quickstart convention as well. Multi-player action is provided free at the MSN Gaming Zone on the Internet and, as always, gameplay still supports same computer, alternating golfer action. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
