In this spin-off of the Gradius series, the world devourer Zelos has digested the planets from your galaxy. The only way to stop him from causing more destruction is to fly into his body and destroy him from the inside. Shooter fans will definitely appreciate Life Force, as it contains six levels that alternate between side-scrolling and vertical-scrolling shooting, as well as an often intense difficulty level. Others might find it overly frustrating without use of the famous "Konami Code," which gives players 30 lives by pressing "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start" at the title screen. The graphics are solid and creatively depict the hellish world of Zelos' innards, but there is some occasional slowdown and flicker. Also known as Salamander in Japan. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
