LEGO Stunt Rally offers a different take on the racing genre. In this game, you don't steer in the traditional manner, weaving in and out of the lanes with your directional pad. Instead, you switch in and out of the two lanes with the press of the B button, while controlling speed with the A button. The danger is flying off the track because of too much speed.
The directional pad is reserved for other fun tasks, such as deploying weapons found along the track to get the jump on enemies. In addition to a standard cast of regular baddies, Stunt Rally features four different regions: City, Jungle, Desert, and the Arctic. Each of these areas has its own tracks along with special boss racers players must overcome.
Race fans are allowed to participate in a Single Race any time they want, but the heart of LEGO Stunt Rally is the Championship Mode. Here, players must beat subsequent races in one area, then beat out that area's boss, thus conquering the region. Players must find a way to conquer all four regions if they want a chance at the big race against the sinister Mr. X. Only by defeating him will players finally be declared champion of the LEGO Stunt Rally.
Aside from the pre-set tracks, Stunt Rally also comes with a Track Editor, where aspiring raceway engineers can create new tracks from any of the four regions, building their own paths and adding all the power-ups they desire. A single-player game, LEGO Stunt Rally is only available for the Game Boy Color. ~ Jon Thompson, All Game Guide
