DESCRIPTION
"Building" on the success of LEGO Star Wars, LucasArts allows another of its signature properties to receive the interactive toy treatment. Famed archaeologist Indiana Jones takes his whip-cracking, pistol-packing persona into the lighthearted realm of LEGO in this homage to the rogue explorer's first three movies. Players begin their adventures in the world of academia, Barnett College, where Dr. Jones teaches archaeology. The institution serves as a jumping point for each of the three films, where players will revisit memorable scenes on their way to recovering the Ark of the Covenant, the Sankara Stones, and the Holy Grail. The game offers 18 levels divided equally among three chapters.
Indy can use his whip to swing across chasms, fight enemies, or break apart objects to reveal coins. As in LEGO Star Wars, a second player can join in at any time for cooperative action online or off. Each character has specific roles and even phobias, such as Satipo's ability to dig up treasure or Indy's fear of snakes. Thus, players will frequently need to switch between characters to solve puzzles or complete tasks. Over 60 playable characters include Sallah, Mola Ram, Marion Ravenwood, Short Round, Marcus Brody, and Toht. To appeal to the family friendly spirit of the toy series, Nazi references and symbols were removed in favor of a generic "cult" dressed in trench coats. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Between playing the story and collecting everything in freeplay, I've realized I miss a lot. I think I average 4 playthroughs to find everything. I just have one more chapter to finish the story...”

“LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures.
Nothing really needs to be said when it comes to a game like this. The LEGO Game Brand franchise has been very popular, not just amongst children, but with teenagers who love simple games or are just stoners enjoying the humour of the game itself. I have to admit though, nothing makes me more excited when someone says to me "Dude, Indiana Jones LEGO, i need to whip some bricks". The game has the average graphics that is shared by all of the LEGO games so far which is a more comforting feeling considering the almost human-like animation that is the modern day gaming systems mostly all Xbox players are feeling these days. The gameplay is fun, humorous, just something that i would never play by myself in the dark unless i was being an achievement whore. LEGO Indiana Jones is definitely a family or a friend game, because it is clear that any LEGO game is best used in co-op.”

“A really excellent game in its own right, but the Indy stories lack the colorful characters of the Batman or Star Wars games and that does make this game feel less engaging by comparison. Definitely worth it regardless - funny, clever, well-done.”

“When we bought our 360, this came bundled with it. I immediately dismissed it, along with Kung Fu Panda, as being games that they bundled because nobody was actually buying them. As time went by, I ran into posts by various people who thought the Lego games in general were the best thing since sliced bread. Since I try to be willing to give anything a shot and didn't have to pay or do anything for the privilege, I added it to the notional queue of games to play.
And then I pretty much forgot it. It wasn't appealing in and of itself, after all, and the choice between, say, Bioshock and Lego Indiana Jones seemed pretty simple. Last Friday, however, I found myself looking at what was left on the queue.. and found myself choosing between Psychonauts (which I picked up because it was $2 on Steam), The Dig (nostalgia + another Steam sale) and Lego Indiana Jones.
Well, I decided I'd had LIJ on the queue long enough. I sat down to play it, and after I'd spent a couple minutes bouncing around through the first level Dena wandered out to see whether the new game was interesting to watch. And then she noticed the words "Press Start to Join" flashing in the upper right corner.
And that is how Lego Indiana Jones became a complete obsession for four days.
Any halfway decent game with local cooperative play is of major interest to me. One that's actually a lot of fun? Well, look forward to seeing every other Lego game we can find discussed in this space soon.
It's the best 3d platformer I have yet played. Admittedly, for the most part it isn't very difficult.. but I have yet to play a 3d platformer that had interesting difficulty beyond "the camera hates you" - I view No More Heroes as a 3d beat-em-up, and yes the distinction matters. What it does offer is genuinely exploration-oriented gameplay where there's actually interesting stuff to find and do. A big part of the reason for the lack of difficulty ties into this, since a major element is the fact that dying isn't really penalized in any very meaningful way. You simply respawn right where you died and lose some money-equivalent. There are all sorts of interesting puzzles to solve - really, the game is a puzzle game, something that only became clear to me when we started trying for 100% completion and revisiting levels and finding out that they were actually all pretty short once you knew the solutions to the puzzles.. which makes going for 100% completion all the more appealing, since it's not an endless ordeal.
This is a fantastic game and I eagerly anticipate playing through more games in the series.”

“Finished TLC on Story Mode. Then ran around doing... y'know, things. Unlocked Invincibility so the Nazis don't make me go berserk, grabbed a bunch of stuff in Raiders, and completed Ancient City.”

“I admit, I'm a real sucker for the Lego branded games. I know they're kids games, and I know I'm not, I just find these games to be really satisfying and unbelievably fun, if frustrating at times.
Lego Indiana Jones came with my Xbox along with Kung Fu Panda so I was stoked that a new Lego game came into my collection, having played Star Wars as Batman Lego games on my PS2.
Like all Lego games, they're fairly involved, especially if you want to fully complete the game. You need to unlock all character, all perks, get every special tropy piece to build all the trophies, mail all the packages and play the game through at least twice, in order to get all these things done. At times I find that the next step in completing the game is very very hard to discern and some points are outright frustrating, you'll want to have a guide open on your PC or laptop if you get stuck trying to figure it out...I know I did. But in all I like the game. You can spend hours lost in the world playing the many many Indy Characters available, collecting all those little studs in hopes of buying some new upgrade, or trying to build that trophy.
Achivements are wide ranging and cover alot of game play variations, although some will be time consuming to gain (such as the 250 rope swings or the 100% completion), but you'll have fun doing them.
Controls are easy to handle, but occasionally cause issue, such as times when indy swings his whip and swings it in an area you don't want, or when you need to flip a switch and drop an item your carrying right in front of the switch...you'll find it hard trying to pick one up over the other.
All in all, lots of fun in a small package. I'd class this one as a buyer, because its fun for not only you, but if you have kids, they can play too! (2 player capability), making this game a true family fun game.”
