Legends of the Diamond tries to set itself apart from other baseball games on the NES with its line-up of 30 all-time greats such as Babe Ruth, Ernie Banks and Lou Gehrig. But even with this distinction, the game feels more like a generic baseball sim than one built from the ground up with classic players in mind. Although the player graphics are sharp and well animated, they suffer from a pastel color scheme and an overall feeling of sameness. There's no meaningful way to distinguish between, say, Harmon Killebrew and Honus Wagner. You can also choose between an "old" and "new" stadium, but they are similarly indistinguishable. The gameplay itself is solid on a technical level but totally lacks any excitement. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
