DESCRIPTION
Living up to its double-meaning title, Left 4 Dead features four living playable characters who have been left behind to survive in a city with a rapidly growing population of people-eating walking dead. In classic horror-film style, the four main hero characters are largely dissimilar and not likely to get along very well at first, but they will need to learn to trust one another and work together to survive the streets of the rampaging zombies. Computer-controlled companions are available for single-players, but online multiplayer co-op games are a main thrust of play. In a standard game, players begin each level in a safe area, where they can stock up on supplies and put together a plan before moving out into the zombie-flooded city streets.
No place is safe for too long in this game, however, and once the zombies start coming, they keep coming, no matter where the players run or hide. Generally, players will take a role on their team that matches the weapons or medical equipment they chose at the beginning of the level. Friendly fire is painfully possible, so players will need to be careful where they aim and shoot. Sometimes, in close quarters, a quick melee attack may be a safer way to temporarily stave off encroaching undead or knock a hungry zombie off a companion. The ultimate objective in each level is not known from the start, but created in part by a built-in artificial intelligence "Director," which analyses the players' positions and progress, and creates new challenges on the fly, making each game different and adding creepy factor of the unknown.
Left 4 Dead was developed by Valve Software, built on the studio's Counter-Strike: Source game engine. In addition to the four-person survival-horror game, available modes of play allow multiplayer competition for up to eight, with one team of four playing as the human survivors and the other four players taking the roles of infected boss zombies. Each boss zombie has a different special power, such as a prehensile tongue or an explosive belly full of corrosive swamp gas, encouraging them to combine their strengths and work as a team, just like the poor human beings they are hunting down for supper. ~ T.J. I'm French and sometimes find myself on the receiving end of the most ridiculous prejudice. I usually play along, something like "wait, I was just eating some fromage in my baguette, but now I'm ready to play". Or I'll face them head on with something like "Don't be cocky, you won because you played better than me, not because you're American". Or just some plain ol' lecturing.
It is my experience that when confronted to meaning of their words, most people will stand corrected. But what applies in my case doesn't have to be true in your case, because those are 2 different kinds and degrees of prejudice.
It has happened to me dozens of times on XBL, so by now I'm more amused than angry when it happens.
And I can always quit and hope that the next people I play with have an IQ greater than a bulldog.
I wish to pint out that most people I chat with online during play are act polite or lively people, and are nice to play with. These idiots are anomalies.

“With online activities in general it is the fact that people can insult others and get away with it because the other person will never find out who they are. Being online multiplies the worst in people a thousand times. You take some arrogant person in real life and they will be worse online because you don't know who they are. As in the case of guys being mean, and from what I am reading you are implying extra mean though correct me if I am wrong, the only thing I can come up with is ego. When i played professionally I would always try to recruit at least one girl gamer for my squad in Counterstrike, a lot of times it can prove to be quite advantageous.

First im going to start BEFORE the game starts, it can take a while to start a match. Im not saying the game is slow, but the people will only play when the lobby is full, and with that, they CONSTINTLY kick people with NO mics! I personnaly find this to be outright ridiculous! Coming from someone who didnt have a mic once before.... I dont think this is fair at all thn you have some people who call people with no mics stupid ( i didnt want to use fowl language..) and saying that peope with no mics are rude for not having one. This is a team based game but popups do appear on the screen when something happens to a teammate. The now IN the game, As the humans you have some advantages over the infected, your faster then some of the infected, the infected can be killed, Like the witch and boomer, in one shot (witch if you know what your doing against one). But also as the humans you have rambos ( People who start and immediately rush on ahead without you and to the safe room, were they close the door and dont comeout for the rest of the game.). Now on to the Infected, you have to be smart, and a good teammate to play succesful as an infected, you need to know your teammtes moves, and what there gonna do. But you have your teammates who dont listen to you, with or without mics. They spawn run out in the open die and then complain about how unfair the reason they died. This is basically it for Left 4 Dead. i liked it but it had its flaws, i cant wait to see Left 4 Dead 2”

“Ah, the whole mic thing is a matter of taste. If you don't like how people handle it, then do what I do. My friends and I always have control of a lobby, so we call the shots. It's easy to do, just start a game with friends only, then change it to a public lobby. Oh, and I encourage you to play versus mode only of you have at least 2 friends on your team, and preferably 3. You're right, the game does has it's flaws, but a lot of them are negligible if you play with friends.”
