“What I liked:
- Visually pleasing. Great attention to detail - especially to the cars. Aesthetics are tended to for a 1940's LA.
- Facial animations and motion-capture technology really paid off; I liked what I saw.
- Car chases - though often scripted - are simply incredible.
- Solving clues and exploring crime scenes was a pretty awesome experience.
- Phelps' notebook is a really innovative and cool feature to handle gameplay elements.
- Good soundtrack.
What I didn't like:
- Homocide was by far the better part of the game, before you're practically demoted to handling arson, which is, by comparison, extremely boring.
- Some crime scenes, especially post-arson, are tedious and uninteresting. Sometimes you can also be stuck with that one clue that you need to progress - and it turns into a game where you're just picking up every single object that you can until you find the right one.
- I wanted to like the interrogations, but I just couldn't get into it. You're given the options "Lie / Doubt / Truth" upon hearing a statement, but I strongly question the need for a 'doubt' option. There are literally times when a suspect is clearly lying to you, but you're not 100% so you might doubt them for now. This is when the game punishes you for doubting them, even if your doubts are well-placed. There was also great disparity between the on-screen dialogue options and Phelps' responses. Example: I once meant only to doubt a lady, so I selected the option, and sat back frustrated as Phelps practically jumped at her and straight-up accused her of murder. Smooth.
- The car chases may be great, but most of the rest of the gameplay really isn't. The gunfights are repetitive and rough-around-the-edges, and the interrogations were ultimately poorly executed.”

“I'm on the first mission of the traffic desk and have already restarted missions twice because I accidentally hit the wrong button during interrogations.”

“L.A. Noire is a fun game with not much action but more investigating crimes and interveiwing witnesses. I play this game often but if you are more of the action type person like me, you would get bored of the game sooner or later.”
