DESCRIPTION
The surprising collaboration between Disney and Square Enix returns in this follow-up to 2002䀙s sleeper hit, Kingdom Hearts. Players will guide an older and more powerful Sora along with unlikely pals Goofy and Donald Duck in multiple worlds based on classic and contemporary Disney films. The action once again follows a party of three characters as they fight enemies, solve puzzles, and explore their cinematic surroundings from a third-person perspective. New features include a retooled camera system and a revamped combat engine.
The viewpoint is set farther back than in the original game, allowing players to see more of their surroundings, with the right analog stick used to further adjust the perspective. Kingdom Hearts II no longer includes platform jumping, focusing instead on the real-time combat. Sora can now perform double-team attacks and absorb the party䀙s powers to transform into one of five stronger entities. Players can also swap party members during the heat of battle, perform context-sensitive attacks, and control the abilities of summoned characters like Stitch or Chicken Little.
Another adjustment is the initially playable character. Sora takes a back seat to a young boy named Roxas at the game䀙s start, whose dreams help relay the storyline to those new to the Kingdom Hearts saga. Yet the biggest change in this sequel is the ability to visit new worlds from the Disney universe, including environments based on Steamboat Willie, Tron, The Lion King, Mulan, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Redesigned locales from the first game are featured as well, each offering alternate objectives to complete. As in the original, Kingdom Hearts II enlists the voice talents of such Hollywood stars as Haley Joel Osment, Mena Suvari, and Christopher Lee to bring the characters to life. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

I know it was supposed to be really bad, but (again from a kid's pov) it was a reasonably decent space-opera (with the typical TV/movie tendency to be completely disjoined from any real science) It was a stupid melodrama, but it wasn't pretending to be anything else.”

And the scene where he takes out his spinning claws to the Scientist, played by Anthony Perkins (Norman Bates from Psycho for all you guys and gals out there), who...in some weird way expected his little book to stop it......gets shredded and gutted like a fish. you didn't see it....but you could hear it...that god awful grinding...yuck...”

“@wastelander75, yes, Maxamillian, and I totally forgot it was Anthony Perkins, but I remembered him blocking the blades with the book, but in the murky depths I call my memory, it got changed into a clip-board. I actually liked the multiple arms on rotating drum design, it was the only aspect of Maxamillian that looked like it might realistically be implemented on a robot. And as you said, cutting away but keeping the sound if anything intensified the squidjiness of the scene. I kinda want to rent it and watch it now, but it would probably be totally cornball.”

I mean, Disney owns ESPN and ABC (home of Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Brothers and Sisters), and they own Miramax and (used to own) Dimension Films (with stuff like From Dusk Till Dawn, The Crow, and Sin City still under their belt). They don't sanitize and censor everything they touch, they just wanna make more money, so they buy companies. Douches, but douches who will let profitable businesses stay profitable using their own means.”

Though I have yet to see Caroline--never really saw much in its advertisement that made me want to watch it. Other movies, like Mars Attacks, the Nightmare Before Christmas (banned in Mom's. The original book was written by Neil Gaiman (who brought us the amazing Sandman comics, amongst others), and directed by Henry Selick (who directed Nightmare Before Christmas, James and Giant Peach, and a couple of others). Easy to get mixed up, and I thought it was a Burton, too, but he actually had nothing to do with that movie.”
