The focus shifts from King Graham, the star of King's Quest 1 and King's Quest II to a young boy named Gwydion who is a working slave for an evil wizard named Manannan.
Living a miserable life of oppresion, you are constantly watched by the wizard as he commands you to do various chores around the home. During one of his routine trips to the surrounding land, you accidentally move a book while dusting Manannan's massive library and reveal a lever. Yanking the lever, a section of the floorboards lift up with stairs leading down into a well-lit laboratory.
It is here that Gwydion must brew potions, and cast magical spells behind the back of Manannan to ultimately destroy the wizard and gain his freedom. Manannan has learned his lesson with curious young male servants he's had before however, and the wizard kills his servant when he reaches his 18th birthday to train another young man and ensure all knowledge of magic will be destroyed and not used against him.
Can Gwydion destroy Manannan and escape the land of Llewdor? He'll have to use his wits, creative thinking, and a little luck not only to destory the wizard, but to solve various puzzles and escape Llewdor. ~ Chris Couper, All Game Guide
