DESCRIPTION
Baseball superstar Ken Griffey Jr. and the folks at Software Creations bring big league baseball to the Nintendo Game Boy Color with Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest, which is exclusive to the platform and is not compatible with the original Game Boy.
Take to the field and participate in an exhibition game or best-of-seven World Series against the computer, a season lasting 26, 78 or 162 games, or a home run derby against up to three other human or computer opponents. Pick any American or National League team you want (including All Star teams) and decide on your lineup and starting pitcher. Each player is rated in several statistical categories which are reflective of his real abilities.
On defense, decide what type of pitch you want to throw and control it as it heads toward the plate. When the ball goes into play, maneuver your fielder to it and jump or dive for it if necessary. On offense, swing high or low, left or right, and bunt or swing through the pitch. When you have runners on base you control them and decide whether they should advance extra bases or not take the chance.
In the Options menu you can use the designated hitter for your game, decide just to manage and not control your players, or switch on auto field and let the computer control your fielders.
During the season, you can make trades and save your progress as you advance toward the playoffs and, hopefully, the World Series. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
