DESCRIPTION

The only goal in Kayak Extreme is to race downstream as fast as possible while maneuvering your kayak through a series of numerical and colored gates. Before the real action starts, you must complete a training course in under a minute that simulates different water currents, provides instructions on controls, and explains gate operation. After training, levels become harder and faster, with more gates identified by green or red horizontal bars that must be passed a certain way to prevent five- or 15-second time penalties. Green gates require passage by moving the kayak between the bars in a forward fashion, whereas red gates require you to move the craft around a bar and pass through the gate backwards. Courses have stringent time limits, making elimination of time penalties necessary, and failure to beat the time restriction results in starting the level again. Successful races unlock new kayaks, paddles, and courses, with some kayaks built for twisting rivers and others for speed.
