This adaptation of Kaboom! pales in comparison to the Atari VCS original because it lacks paddle control, making the game harder and far less enjoyable. Blocky buildings have been added to the background in a weak attempt to spruce up the graphics, and a note of the "Toreador Song" plays each time a bucket catches a bomb. In addition, players can now enter their initials for high scores (which are erased, of course, when the system is turned off). The only upgrade of any substance is the Pitch and Catch mode, which lets player two control the Mad Bomber. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
