DESCRIPTION
You are Jupiter Jumpman, a hero who can leap higher and farther than any normal man. You must leap, scale and descend 30 levels of arranged platforms to capture all of the bombs threatening to blow up Jupiter headquarters level.
The game consists of five different variations. Beginner, intermediate, advanced, grand loop and randomizer. The first three are the standard progression from easy to more difficult levels. Beginner allows you to play the levels 1-8, intermediate 9-18, and advanced 19-30. The grand loop offers the ability to play right through, while randomizer offers up levels in a random sequence.
Up to four players can play in alternating turns. Each player is given the mandatory seven Jumpman lives to complete all the levels. If any player should lose all of their lives before the others, they will be dropped from the rotation. The player with the highest score at the end is declared the winner.
The levels are made up of many obstacles and devices for transport. Speeding bullets, floating blocks and robots are some of the hazards that try to interfere with your completion of the mission. Along with an ability to jump great distances, Jumpman can also scale ropes and ladders and girders, which you will need to do in order to reach the bombs threatening your survival. Traversing the screen is a matter of decoding the proper sequence of up-ropes and down-ropes, floating elevators and ladders to traverse to reach all of the bombs.
The Jumpman can have his speed adjusted for challenge at the beginning of the game. It ranges from eight, which is very slow, to one, which is fast. This is designed to add more challenge to the gameplay as bonus points are awarded for completing a level in under a certain time. Scoring 10,000 points gives the player another Jumpman.
Jumpman is represented as a pixel figure and the levels, for the most part, are made up of green floors and blue ladders. Small orange circles represent the bombs. The sound effects consist of short blips when Jumpman jumps, dies, or performs some other action. ~ Ryan Glover, All Game Guide
