DESCRIPTION
After six-years without a retail release, NetDevil's outer space combat franchise returns with Jumpgate Evolution, an MMO with gameplay mechanics more akin to a flight simulator than a role-playing game. Players can once again choose from three different nations: the Solrain Commonwealth, full of conniving merchants and organized crime; the spiritual Quantar Paths, made up of dozens of cults; and the militant Octavian Empire. As gamers "jump" to different locations around the universe they will also encounter several non-playable nations of varying size and strength.
Jumpgate Evolution employs a "twitch-based" combat system, allowing players to participate in massive real-time battles involving more than 1,000 different ships. The in-game economy is entirely player driven and subject to the ebb and flow of consumer demand, and gamers can plumb the depths of the universe searching for vital resources to be mined, sold, and used for technological advancement. There are no character classes, meaning players may find themselves piloting a cargo ship in one mission, collecting ore in the next, and attacking a space station in another. A mission generator provides a constant stream of quests, and gamers can unlock new ships, pilot licenses, and player ranks as they wade through massive PvP and PvE battles. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
