DESCRIPTION

Joe Montana Football is an eight-man football game for the Game Gear. Instead of fielding 11 players at a time, each team puts eight men on the field. The basic rules are identical to normal American football.

The game offers players the full complement of American football teams as of 1991, but without NFL names or logos. Each team plays identically — the only difference is in the range of plays available. All teams draw from a common stock of plays, but each is missing one or two.

Both handoffs and passing are done by pressing button 1. Players can switch intended receivers by pressing button 2. The system is designed so that running plays can be converted into passing plays on the fly and vice versa. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
