DESCRIPTION
Seventeenth century Japan is a wondrous place, known to only a few Europeans. You, John Blackthorne, are about to become one of them. As the pilot of a Dutch fleet in search of Japan, you and your ships have been battered by the seas. Finally, aboard the last remaining ship, you and a few survivors land on the shores of this island nation.
But you have little knowledge of the language and customs of these people from a strange and foreign land. Will you unknowingly offend a lord and be sentenced to death or will you manage to survive and even find a niche for yourself within this foreign society?
Infocom's graphics enhanced text-based adventure game, James Clavell's Shogun, is based on the epic novel by the author. Assuming the role of John Blackthorne, you interact with the game through its text parser. The game story is divided into 18 sequential chapters, each telling part of the Shogun story.
You retain your accumulated point score as you advance through the chapters but not your inventory. Each chapter is composed of a series of puzzles that require you to logically act in order to survive and advance your own interests. The game contains a total of 420 points with five points awarded for each puzzle solved successfully. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
