DESCRIPTION

Black Isle Studios's sequel to Icewind Dale uses the same Infinity Engine that powered the Baldur's Gate series and Planescape: Torment. The game team has spent lots of time implementing new rules from 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons. Most of the 3rd Edition based races and classes are now playable and players will have a much easier time figuring out how their character is progressing. Also, high-level magic users will be rewarded with powerful new spells.

Icewind Dale II offers a chance to revisit the frozen northern reaches of the Forgotten Realms. The worst fear of the civilized realms has come true: the Goblinoids have united an army of misfits and they want to call the Ten Towns their own. Massive swarms of Orcs and Worg-mounted Goblins are attempting to overrun the town of Targos. A call has gone out to all those willing to face insurmountable odds. ~ All Game Guide

What's ID like? I loooove BG & P:T with a passion, I take heard that ID is "more diablo like" but that honestly doesnt' explain it considering that neither of the above were anything like diablo...

I skipped it when it came out and only know that it's using the same Infinity Engine and staged in the same Forgotten Realms setting.

I hope it'll be much like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, but I still have Dragon Age to finish first :(”

“Icewind Dale 2 is my favorite game that was built on the Infinity Engine, while its better than Baldur's Gate I and II, its only flaw is that you prebuild your entire 6 man party and theres no interaction between them. They are personality-less drones you control. However the story and the Areas you explore in IWD I and IWD II are just gorgeous, the music is just perfect. Jeremy Soule did a perfect job on both soundtracks. As much as I liked Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, the whole 2nd edition D&D thing is a serious turn off after learning 3rd and 3.5 D&D. GOD... THAC0... ”
