Skate circles around the competition on a side-scrolling rink in Ice Hockey for NES. Included are six international teams: United States, Sweden, Poland, Canada, the Soviet Union, and Czechoslovakia. Lead your five-man squad in a quest to win the "International Gold Cup." Pint-sized characters with names like "Lanky," "Pee-Wee," and "Fatso" are individually rated in four areas: sticking, shot strength, checking, and face-off.
Shoot the puck by holding down the "B" button, or tap it to fake out the competition. The "A" button is used for both passes and fake passes. Switch to the player closest to the puck on defense and perform stick checks. Before each match, you can adjust the game's speed (from one to five) and period length (from seven to 15 minutes). Watch out for icing violations, and don't be surprised if fights break out after aggressive play. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
