DESCRIPTION

Based on the 2006 computer-animated feature film, this GBA game follows ice age companions Sid the sloth, Manny the mammoth, and Diego the saber tooth tiger, as they race to escape from their flooding valley. The game alternates between side-scrolling platform levels, suggestive of early Sonic the Hedgehog games, and isometric adventure areas, not unlike those in Super Mario RPG. The side-scrolling sections are single-critter affairs, but all three characters need to work together to make it through the overland exploration levels of the game, each using his unique abilities to help solve simple environmental puzzles (such as crossing a weak patch of thin ice or a scalding spot of molten rock). While the gameplay is basically 2D, characters and environments have a 3D look reminiscent of their big screen appearances. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
