DESCRIPTION
Hyperdrive is a futuristic lap-based racing game which allows players to drive as stock car racers in the year 2100. Stock cars in the 22nd century have evolved into Advanced Racing Crafts (ARCs). Drivers are now also pilots because ARCs can fly.
Not only can players pass on the left or right - they can go above or below other craft as they try to win the race. Players must hug corners, bump other players, and accelerate constantly to win. They can choose from four cars: the Meteor, Thunderbolt, Diamondback and Goblin. Each of them is designed for different types of drives, from beginners to more advanced ones.
There are four main courses in Hyperdrive, each with a variety of challenges and obstacles. Each track has shortcuts and green boost zones that provide a major jolt of speed at certain points in the race. The beginner course is Orbital Speedway while the Mars Dragstrip is for racers with intermediate skills. Deep Space and Asteroid Mine are for players who want more of a challenge. Hyperdrive features a controller that allows full 360-degree movement for the ARCs. There are two yellow air brakes on the controller that allow players to slow down and take tight corners. ~ Anthony Baize, All Game Guide
