Hip Hop All Star is an iPhone app that has users playing DJ, in the same style that Guitar Hero or Rock Band turns console gamers into rock star guitarists. To take charge of the touch-screen turntable, players tap notes that appear on a rotating record, in time with the music. The notes are arranged along a radius line of the record, and players can see them spinning around from the left before they line up with a crossbar on the right, to the beat of the currently playing track. Tapping the correct notes just as they cross the bar earns a perfect score. The game features original music from over a dozen hip-hop recording artists and money-making DJs, including Busta Rhymes, Kid Cudi, Kool G Rap, Ray J, Slim Thug, and Unk, along with Jason Nevins, DJ Green Lantern, and others. A between-the-tracks storyline casts players as mix masters, rising to DJ stardom with each successful performance, eventually appearing in five ever-more prominent venues. A wireless multiplayer mode lets two Hip Hop All Star DJs battle head-to-head. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
