DESCRIPTION
A fondly remembered 3DO series returns to fight another day in this Ubisoft debut. In Heroes of Might and Magic V, players are challenged to conquer a land of fantasy, using both wits and warfare. Elements of empire building, such as exploration and economy, play their roles in this game, but its greatest conflicts are ultimately resolved on the battlefield, through sophisticated turn-based combat similar that of a traditional console tactical RPG, but fought between large battalions that may each contain numerous different units.
The most immediately noticeable improvement over earlier games in the series come through Heroes of Might and Magic V's 3D graphics, but other enhancements have been made as well. The interface has been rebuilt to be more intuitive and accessible, while still offering sophisticated control. In online games, players can make use of ghost characters to spy and steal resources as their opponents take their turns. While influenced by the series' mythology, the game's setting and storyline were created anew, for this (and possible future) Might and Magic releases.
Heroes of Might and Magic V was developed for Ubisoft by European game-maker Nival Interactive, the creator of successful tactical combat computer games such as Blitzkrieg, Etherlords, and Silent Storm. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
