DESCRIPTION
Author J.K. Rowling's bespectacled wizard-in-training makes his highly anticipated entrance to the videogame realm with this role-playing title based on the first novel in the international best-selling series. As Harry Potter, players visit the magical mall of Diagon Alley and journey to Hogwarts School. A total of 120 locations are available to explore with over 100 characters to meet, including Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Rubeus Hagrid.
In typical RPG fashion, Harry earns experience points through successful magic encounters. Each turn-based battle pits the wizard against up to three creatures. While in combat, players can conjure attack spells, use items like potions or snacks to replenish lost stamina or magic points, flee from battle, or tap into their card collection of "Famous Witches and Wizards" to cast more powerful magic.
Famous Witches and Wizards cards are hidden at various spots throughout the world, behind paintings, inside chests, and so forth. Acquired cards are kept in Harry's Folio Magi book, and duplicates can be traded to other players using either the Game Link or Infrared Port. Yet before using the cards in battle, magical card combinations must be found. Each combination consists of the three cards required to cast the spell.
As his experience grows, Harry's level and overall abilities in strength, defense, agility, magic strength, and magic resistance will increase as well. Clothing items such as robes, gloves, hats, and boots can increase or decrease certain stats once equipped. In addition, Harry can learn to make his own potions by mixing the correct ingredients in a cauldron. Game progress can be saved at any time to one of three designated slots. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Whew, been a LONG time since I played this, but I remember it pretty well. I personally found the whole game pretty easy, if not a little bit tedious. I was as much a Harry Potter fanatic as one could be without cosplaying at the time I played it, but overall, my favorite things about the game were actually the minigames and such that were for each class, and somewhat embarassingly, not the battle system or anything else in the game. It gets 2 stars for that reason. I did replay it multiple times just because I kept trying to collect all the cards, but I think I was always missing 8 cards and at the time, I didn't know how to look up guides and such on the internet. It followed the book about as well as a GBC game made for a book could, but it was by no means good or great.”

“This game was very fun to play. I remember trying to go through the story the second time at level 86ish and never got passed my second play through because the potions room was to damn hard on the second play through. Other then that flaw it is a great game if you enjoy Harry Potter, definitely recommended.”
