DESCRIPTION

Microsoft and Bungie's blockbuster sci-fi shooter series continues with this standalone expansion to Halo 3. Battle through an all-new campaign as an ODST, short for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, in a storyline that serves as a prequel to the events chronicled in Halo 3. Your mission is to locate the remaining members of your squad somewhere within the Covenant-besieged city of New Mombasa. A new multiplayer mode entitled "Firefight" is introduced, where up to four players must work together to repel increasingly challenging waves of enemies. A second disc is home to a total of 24 multiplayer maps, three of which are new, with the remainder comprised of the "legendary," "heroic," and "mythic" Halo 3 map packs that were previously available as downloadable content via Xbox Live. Initial runs of Halo 3: ODST also include a key to the multiplayer beta of the franchise's next anticipated entry, Halo: Reach. “I didn't have that much of a problem with it. In fact every single shooter I've played has had the "Enemies seem to be able to know exactly where you are once you enter their area. Regardless of if you have your flash light on or not." with the exception of FEAR. It's also not a flashlight - more like nightvision. I'm guessing futuristic shooters can get away with it since who knows what kind of tracking devices they possess in the future.

I enjoyed it mostly because I'm a Halo fan but the campaign was way too short - I could beat it in less than 4 hours.

"I mean--_maybe_ the online mode is better (provided you mute it)." There is no matchmaking in Firefight - which sucks because you can only play with your friends who own the game and feel like playing it with you. I've gotten half of the Firefight achievements by myself just because nobody ever plays it.

I've honestly never heard that. If there's anything 360 fans are jizzing their pants over it's Modern Warfare 2 (or Mass Effect 2 since it just came out)

Dealing with an issues that kind of causes me more than a few issues when getting into a gaming world: lack of vermilision in the game's world.

That is, playing the one player mode, an I cannot really connect. The world makes no sense to me. No idea what really is going on, or what I am doing. Or how most things work and operate.

Usually when I come up to games, where my biggest issue is that I cannot make heads or tails of sense of how the world works or operates, I usually go to something that I can make sense of.

I mean, I cannot really identify with any of what is going on. The mechanics of the world I am not getting in the least.

Likely what is going to happen with this, was the same thing as what happened with Super Metroid--I just put it aside and do not really play the game.”

Such as getting into the Firefly series by watching the Television series, as oppose to just jumping into the Movie Serenity.

“Right now, I've been battling to get into the earlier Bungee FPS, Marathon, but right from the start, the game gets to a point where your wandering down corridors that are so narrow you can't begin to dodge, so even if the controls were where they should be, all you can do is back-pedal and shoot, and hope you reach a turn before your health goes to zero. Oh yeah, there don't apear to be any health packs either. Maybe Bungee just sucks at FPS games.”

I have stated that I did not like my first impression of Halo, no idea what is going on--and naturally this means I am going to enjoy reading about it? Then when I say that it would be good to figure out what happened and how the world works--you think that this is not a reason for me to read the damn books? Instead simply saying that you only did it because "they are good reading material"?

I dunno--guess I will pick them up.. but I am likely to have issues putting them at a higher priority than reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Dune, Snowcrash, The Cat Who Walks Through Walls and finishing off Catch-22. Of course and rereading Stranger in a Strange Land and Neuromancer. As well--I kind of have doubts that this story line is as solid as they say it is. But then--that is what I have for most things I hear people say, "doubts". Fifth pentabarf and everything.

Anyways--I will check out the Halo books. What is a good first one to read to get into the series?”

Enemies have infinite ammo

So do Allies

Headshots with Pistol = Instant kills

Red OUTLINES mean they are enemies, same for green, it dosn't really state this well I admit

If you can't make sense of the world

Read the books then play the games in release order, that should get you orientated (I personally havn't read the books but understandwell how things work.)

I mean, the X button (I think it was) allowed me to turn what I was calling the "flash light" on and off.

And well--part of what I liked about this game was that I could navigate just fine in the darkness without the "flash light" being turned on.

As per the whole infinite ammo. I guess the issue I am having with that is understanding why they would program a game to do that. I mean, I guess they just have the enemy have a certain type of firing they do with a certain weapon they drop.

In my mind, I would have had the enemy have to hold and pick up weapons much like me. Rather than just having a fire power build in and them just dropping a weapon.

I mean--some of the greatest moments I have had, was when a CPU player in a game ran out of ammo in a fire fight.

As per headshots being instant kills--I dunno, in an FPS that seems well--very dishonest. As if they are going to include that, a good shot to the torso should knock you on your back. Getting shot in the legs should limit movement greatly. Getting shot in the arm should disarm your character--possibly make it so they cannot use a weapon.

Though, instead, we just get decent amount of HP on any part of the body except the head.

Seems very inconsistent and dishonest for my tastes.

I should prehaps clarify, only precison weapons such as a sniper rifle (covvie and human) and pistol are instant kills on an unarmoured enemy. Oh and power swords are also instant kills regardless of shields / armour along with the gravity hammer

With a shotgun or sniper rifle, a point blank shot in the legs will either kill them or cripple them for a few seconds while a torso shot if the enemy has armour will stumble them back.

Now onto body part damage in general, if you got shot in the arm and couldn't use a weapon how the hell are you going to kill apes that are in power armour (effectively just armor) and have morethan twice the strength of you? If you got shot in the leg and couldn't move fast your sniper bait”
