DESCRIPTION
Second in a four-part series, .hack//MUTATION is set in a near future when society has come to rely heavily on advanced network technology. Directly following the events of the first game, MUTATION begins as the CC Company has announced an upgrade which will make some substantial changes to its online game "The World." As the player who controls the online hero Kite, PS2 gamers join up with the character Black Rose to investigate.
Many of the presentational aspects of .hack are created with the sense of an epic anime film. The plotline is crucial to gameplay and an included DVD features original animation that may reveal important secrets to observant viewers. Characters in the game were designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion). The story was written by Kazunori Ito (Ghost in the Shell). ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

“Well, another .hack game. I can't really think of anything to say about this game that I couldn't have said about the previous one. As usual, it's a veritable grind-fest, and while I'm glad that pieces of the story are finally coming together and making sense, I'm tiring of the constant repetitiveness of running from place to place and killing a boss. If there were only a little more variety, or more interaction in battle, I'd probably love this a whole lot more. Well, it was a good game, not great, but then again, it's really only another quarter of the grand saga. I'd be a fool to judge it now when we're only half-way through the game total.”

“100% this game yesterday after playing it for a few months. Got the last two games of the series for Christmas, so I was happy when I completed this one so I could advance.”

“Another one that's been collecting dust for a long time. Spending the day at the bf's house, so just brought that one along as a time-killer. Turns out I was right before the last boss... this...”

“The continuation from .hack//INFECTION. Very in depth storyline that gets you hooked from the moment you first turn on your PS2. Character design and musical score also very well done. Only problems are the horrible camera and some of the voice acting, but that can be overlooked by learning to master the camera and hitting X quickly to skip some of the speaking scenes. (If you are even more desperate to avoid the bad English dubbing, just turn on the Japanese audio.)”

“Leveled all my main characters to level 39, acquired better armor and weapons, acquired some more players' addresses, and defeated 2 bosses: 1 data bug and Innis. Innis was tough to beat, but after...”

“I started playing this game today, got through some of the beginning cut scenes and archs, and advanced in level a bit.”
