DESCRIPTION

The second release in a series of three, .hack//G.U.: Vol. 2 — Reminisce takes place in a fictional MMO environment called The World. As in previous releases of .hack, The World features elements of online gaming without the actual connection. Gamers interact with people they might find in a real MMO, take on quests, and adventure across a large environment as they increase their level.

In this version of The World, gamers find the once-utopian landscape is now a player killer's (PKers) heaven. A bug in the game is blocking the log-off ability to all fictional gamers; effectively locking them into The World. Now, bands of PKers prey on every character in their path hoping that the slaughter knocks them out of the game and back into real life.

Gamers take the role of Haseo, a killer of players who is stuck in the game. Haseo must work his way through The World by interacting with other character, defeating enemies in dungeon sprawls, and by completing assigned objectives. “I would love to see a .hack game become a MMORPG. I know that Japan tried it and failed but I think it could.

I remember talking to a friend about this game and making it an MMO and I thought it would be cool if...well for any MMORPG if they would pick random players to make the main story out of.

So the story could be told over the course of a couple of months and every gamer in the game would be involved some how but the 10 or even 50 players would be the main characters. Then after the 2 or 3 months it takes to play. The story ends and then another 20 to 50 are picked and a new story happens.

We got into more detail about it and thought it would make online gaming different and fun, but I don't know if developers can do that yet.”

“@DarthOdium Well that might leave out too many people though...my thought was to just have it like a regular MMORPG but the gm's would be able to make some really crazy unannounced events. I don't remember exactly what it was but it was like holes in the programming or something? Gah it's been forever since I seen .hack, but they could do a lot with those types of things.

In fact I might go watch the series again, I only liked the first one though.”

“@korncob I can see why it might leave people out but that's why I like the idea. It would sounds like rumors and then people would post images about it and then people would cry to play that. It would be like the golden ticket. Everyone would want to play and would just have to wait there turn.

Since .hack is kind of like to stories you have "The World" and its history then in the background you would have this story that only a handful would play.

I think changing the events would be interesting as well. It would be interesting to login and see that things have slightly changed and I didn't have to pay for it.

“@DarthOdium I'm assuming you've heard of www.cyberconnects.com right? It's sort of an independent version of the world and they are working on releasing the 3d version on the 24th I read somewhere, we'll see though they just seem to keep having problems left and right.

I fairly enjoyed the 2d one but it was 2d...so for obvious reasons it got pretty dull pretty fast lol”

“@DarthOdium Oh that'd be cool :P I'm going to play this game regardless how good the graphics/animations are when it comes out lol the classes and whatnot are just way too hard to pass up, it has a certain feeling to it that is so unique to the .hack// series.”

“@DarthOdium Yah from what I played/saw/heard they did a great job with the first "the world" besides a few setbacks like they had a modeler that completely screwed them over and deleted everything they had been working on then quit or something, it really sucked but they are now working on this new version with a new engine I believe so something good did come out of it I just wish they hadn't wasted all of that work for nothing.”

“all i really like about this game is the story line... the way you fight, move around, and overall gameplay is a thumbs down in my opinion, but two thumbs up in the story, i liked that alot.”
