DESCRIPTION
Guitar Hero II continues the strumming sensation that began on PlayStation 2 with a new lineup of songs, added play modes, extra characters, and an assortment of imaginative venues in which to rock out. The underlying interface has undergone a few tweaks from the original, but it still consists of color-coded notes scrolling down the screen as you attempt to play them using the five colored fret buttons and working strum bar on RedOctane's guitar controller. One significant change is that users can select which guitar part they want to play from three choices: rhythm, lead, or bass.
Cooperative jams have also been added to the multiplayer mode, allowing would-be guitar gods to work together on songs while each playing a separate track. Over 55 songs are included in this version, spanning such genres as classic rock, heavy metal, hair metal, modern rock, and more. Among the featured tunes are "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Heart Shaped Box," "Message in a Bottle," "Free Bird," "Madhouse," and "YYZ." Guitar Hero II is released as a standalone title for owners of the original game or as part of a bundle that includes a guitar controller, stickers, and a shoulder strap. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Finally passed Freya on Expert. Christ that song is annoying. Rest of the game, here I come!”

“Alot of fun but the graphics aren't that great. It's for the PS2 though so I guess that should be expected. The ultimate test of hand eye coordination with a blast of fun. I enjoyed playing and beating it.”

“Another amazing track list save for a few songs, and the introduction of master tracks was genius. Also minor tweaks to the difficulty and hammer-on/pull-off controls really raised the bar.”

“this was basically the beginning of the gh mania for everyone, but i think it was the most amusing gh game. and proved to be amusing at warped tour when they had it set up for people to play in between watching bands.”

“Even if you aren't any good at Guitar Hero, this game is still fun! Whether you are playing with friends or by just yourself, you can always enjoy slamming on your controller to the ever expansive tracklists.”

“Slightly better interface than the first game, with better songs. Would have liked a way to integrate the two games, a feature that became possible later with Rock Band and Rock Band 2. ”

“Still the best guitar hero IMO. I like the layout more than the new ones, and it doesn't have any of the niggling annoyance of 3. Also I think it has the best setlist”

“Probably my favourite GH until I get World Tour. Improves visuals from GH, co-op is awesome, they even put all the high scores from quickplay and career together which is great. Improved hammer-on pull-off mechanic.”

“Haven't taken this online yet, it's a little inconvienent to get the 360 hooked up to the internet where I am currently, but I'd like to. Started playing this on the PS2 with some friends (I don't own a PS2) and when I got the 360 I decided I wanted”
