DESCRIPTION
Ground Control, developed by Massive Entertainment and published under the Sierra label, combines action and combat in a future devastated by World War III. The year is 2419 and the colonization of alien worlds is once again the main thrust of Earth-bound political and industrial factions. Although the fight for resources on the home planet are banned and no longer tolerated, alien world riches are up for grabs!
Two diverse factions, the Crayven Corporation and the Order of the New Dawn, are vying for control of newly discovered alien artifacts and possible technological advances. In fact, the discovery belongs to the church scientists but the Crayven Corporation is attempting a hostile takeover of the colony world on which the discovery was made.
In this real-time strategy game played in fully rendered 3D environments, you take control at the squadron level, select troops, vehicles, weapons, aircraft and more as you prepare your chosen side for the upcoming battles. Initial outfitting is tantamount to success since once deployed, what you have is what you use! A variety of mission objectives, formations, terrain, tactics and battle plans are the focus of gameplay in this fight for the next best technology for the human race.
More than 30 single-player missions advance the storyline. Many game options are available including customization of unit load outs, troop and force strengths and types, camera angles and strategy. Both Internet and LAN multi-player functionality is provided in several modes including traditional real-time strategy as well as specialized deathmatch and capture the flag elements among others. ~ Michael L. “This is without a doubt, my favorite RTS game. As much as I love base building...I am happy to say screw it with this game. No building bases, no harvesting resources, NO UNIT SPAM OR MOB RUSHES!!! This game is straight up tactics. You pick a loadout of units and their special abilities, drop them into the map, and out wit your opponent with the units you have. This was the game that really hooked me into RTS and Massive (the developer) games.”

“Good fun. Completed the Crayven and Order campaigns. Which left me with the expansion and the Phoenix. Followed by the sequel. All completed now though...”
