DESCRIPTION
Rockstar Games once again invites players to "explore their inner criminal" with this release of Grand Theft Auto III for the PlayStation 2 console. This violent, mission-based driving game has the player resuming the role of a cold-hearted street thug making his way up the ladder of underworld gangs and organized crime. With over 50 different types of vehicles on the busy city streets, sports cars to SUVs, taxi cabs to 18-wheelers, and even ambulances and cop cars all there for the taking, a wide variety of outlaw adventures awaits.
The setting of Liberty City is made up of three districts and in all, Grand Theft Auto III offers 72 different missions, many of which can be played in any order. As the player's character completes jobs available in one part of the city, other areas and assignments open up to him. Along with this purposeful design of a non-linear storyline, many other features popular in earlier versions of the game return in this release as well, including a diverse variety of deadly weapons, busy streets full of self-involved pedestrians, and eight different radio station soundtracks to listen to while inside the vehicles. ~ T.J. “One of the best, most fun, jaw dropping and influential games ever made. This game changed gaming for me, there was nothing in the same league when released.”

“Good concept and execution, and the cheats are excellent! An overrated game, but very amusing nonetheless. (Collection status: owned. Completion status: beaten with cheats on. Accurate rating: 7.25.)”

“Grand Theft Auto 3, let me count the ways I love thee. You showed me the joy of sandbox shooters. The sound of the crunch of bones and the splatter of organs as I toss countless helpless civilians sky-high with the front of my car. Ahhh, good times.”

“Even with the 15 sequels or whatever (you can go ahead and count Saint's Row), I still play this one from time to time. The main character has more personality than Nico Bagel from GTAIV, and the Chatterbox just doesn't get old...Clothes, Lazlow....”

“A legend in its own right. :) The free roaming, the gritty streets, the quiant civilians, the amusing cutscenes, the shoot-outs, the car chases, the senseless but always entertaining violence, all these made this game the ultimate stress reliever.”
