DESCRIPTION
An empire-building game set, appropriately enough, in one of the greatest empires the world has ever known, Grand Ages: Rome finds players building cities, raising armies, and conquering new territory in an attempt to become a dominant leader. Gamers begin as a smalltime governor, but they can eventually grow to become praetor of Rome, interacting with historical legends Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Spatacus along the way. There are 16 different military units to recruit and train, including naval fleet, elephant cavalry, and barbarian mercenaries, and among the 60 architectural options are such classic structures as the Coliseum, Circus Maximus, and the Pantheon. The primary single-player modes is a non-linear campaign spanning 40 missions, while LAN and online multiplayer options include competitive or cooperative play through six different strategy modes. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
