DESCRIPTION

Gothic provides role-players with a classic fantasy world that changes throughout the course of the adventure. Orcs have invaded and the ruler of the realm has put all the kingdom's prisoners to hard labor in the mines, hoping their toil will help support the war effort. The player's character begins as a messenger from the king, sent to the mines with information that could have serious repercussions. Over 250 non-player characters populate the lands in Gothic, each of whom has likes, dislikes, and a daily routine. NPCs remember their interactions with the player's character and react appropriately in future meetings. Many NPCs follow certain ideologies and a character's alliances can influence perceptions, though as the story develops old enemies may become useful allies and former friends may enter into unforeseen rivalries. ~ T.J. Just started playing Gothic by: Fallout2Forever

“This game seems very different so far, that's for sure. I keep dying constantly to these weird bird creatures that keep pecking me. Good thing I have a decent supply of blueberries.”

“Btw, go here, http://www.worldofgothic.com/ It has tons of info, on all the games, it also has some texture packs for Gothic 1 and 2, plus some for 3 I think.

I used some the Gothic texture packs when I played it.”

“It's alright, I'm not far into it though. I'm not even going to lie, I spent about 25 minutes trying to figure out how to pick up that torch next to the pond in the beginning. And then I actually did, by accident, and I experimented how I did it with the bear and ore piece. And when I found the first treasure chest, OOOH don't even get me started.

BUT, once I got used to the controls they were kind of nice, I think it just would have been a lot nicer had they put a tutorial or something in.

Haven't even gotten to the first town yet, I have barely explored anything. After taking so long to learn the controls, I ended up walking off a cliff and dying -- Kind of killed my buzz. But I plan on getting back to it tonight.”

“Imo it's the best game from the Gothic series. It may not have the best graphics but the atmosphere created is simply amazing. Also liked the little 'live' act of In Extremo in the Old Camp.”
