DESCRIPTION
In Ghouls, vile creatures stand between you and some powerful jewels in a haunted mansion. Your mission is to avoid death, collect the stones, and banish the evil creatures. Besides the ghouls who move back and forth, hazards include cracked floorboards, moving platforms, man-eating spiders, springs and life-ending spikes.
Everything (with the exception of the platforms) is a deathtrap and merely touching them will cost a life. To avoid death, you must leap over any hazard blocking the path and, in the case of spiders and other beasts, make like a bread truck and haul buns. Platforms are used to reach portions of the level not accessible by jumping.
In addition to collecting regular jewels that are strewn about on some levels to get points, certain powerful stones cause the ghouls to freeze for a few seconds, thus giving you a chance to either flee or destroy the creature. When you reach the top of each screen, a new screen appears and another level begins. The levels in Ghouls are filled with platform-like structures that require you to work your way to the top and collect a powerful jewel. Prior to beginning the jewel-hunting action, an on-screen instruction manual is available for novices or anyone new to the game.
