DESCRIPTION
For fans of the multiplayer arcade classic, Midway throws down the Gauntlet once again, with this 3D hack-and-slash RPG that supports as many as four in its cooperative play modes and offers a number of online features as well. Although it takes place in a fictional, fantasy realm, the adventuresome tale of Seven Sorrows incorporates the events of earlier Gauntlet games, and is grounded in legend and subconscious symbolism. In old times, as the story goes, there were four immortal heroes who sought to destroy a cruel, insane king. They failed, and three were sentenced to death by crucifixion. Yet they — or at least, their spirits — next find themselves transported to the realm of the cruel king's own insanity. Here, they learn that the king is afflicted by the great emotional pain of seven deadly acts of cruelty, including the murder of his lover. The heroes now must adventure through the madman's psyche, to undo these seven sins, before his insanity unleashes chaos and destruction across the entire kingdom. ~ All Game Guide

“Well, this one was kinda a buzzkill. It probably would've been more fun with a second player, but I felt like it was short enough that I could probably just blast through on my own. It had a much more controlled feel than the previous game, Dark Legacy, and the addition of a strong narrative really helped the game move along at a pace that didn't feel too fast or slow. It didn't allow you to wallow in each individual world, hunting down secrets and powering up characters, instead pushing you along towards the ultimate goal in a much more linear fashion. It felt more like a game than just another quarter-sucker, and that led to a much more satisfying ending. Graphics and sound were okay, and the game was short, but I felt that it was the good kind of short. Any longer, and it just would've been dragging. All in all, a competent piece of work, and despite hopes for an eventual sequel (maybe with online multiplayer), I'm content to stick with the Gauntlet mythology already in place.”

“Done. Another one bites the dust. Besides the more cohesive storyline, I just didn't like this one as much as Dark Legacy. Just tried to feel more epic, and fell flat.”

“Almost at the end. The Sixth Sorrow kicked my ass, but it's good to know that I'm that close to the end. Just one more push, I'm thinking. Now, whether or not I'll get to do that this weekend is...”

“Took down another level, after getting my ass kicked in one while trying to figure out the controls again... <.< So much for "done in a week".”

“Decided to just take out the whole series. There's no way that this one will be half as long. I give it a week, no more.”

“Dark Adventure Action hack n slash, gets boring after a while. It seems like this game is fairly well done.”
