DESCRIPTION

Players choose to play as one of four characters: Thor the Warrior, Thyra the Valkyrie, Merlin the Wizard, or Questor the Elf. Each character has a ranking for armor, shot power, hand-to-hand, and magic power.

From an overhead view, players advance through dungeons in search of treasure while destroying hoards of monsters. Monsters include: ghosts, grunts, demons, lobbers, sorcerers, and Death himself. Along the way a number of items can be picked: keys, treasure chests, food, cider, potions, and amulets of invisibility.

The game itself never ends. Your objective is to simply stay alive as long as you can, accumulating as many points as you can. When playing with two players the game can be played infinitely as long as one player is alive at all times. Gauntlet allows a second player to join in at any time so that if a player dies and their partner is still alive then they can get back into the action. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
