DESCRIPTION

Gauntlet was quite a success at the arcades when it was released in 1985. Choose to play as one of four characters: Thor the Warrior, Thyra the Valkyrie, Merlin the Wizard, or Questor the Elf. Each character has a ranking for armor, shot power, hand-to-hand, and magic power.

From an overhead view, players advance through dungeons in search of treasure while destroying hordes of monsters. Monsters include ghosts, grunts, demons, lobbers, sorcerers, and Death himself. Along the way players can pick up keys, treasure chests, food, cider, potions, and amulets of invisibility.

The game itself never ends. Your objective is to simply stay alive as long as you can, accumulating as many points as you can. When playing with two players the game can be played infinitely as long as one player is alive at all times.
