DESCRIPTION
Gallagher's Gallery is a laserdisc-based shooting game inspired by the comedy of Gallagher, America's favorite sledgehammer-toting, melon-squashing madman. No, you don't get to shoot Gallagher, but rather, you must play through his gallery of games, shooting at things he likes or doesn't like.
Using actual footage of the comedian, Gallagher occasionally offers you encouragement and give you tips on how to complete his games, but he's mainly there to make fun of you when you do poorly. The gameplay itself is broken up into several stages, and when you begin play, you have to choose from four different levels: The Food Store, Gadget Land, The Playroom, and The Sheriff's Office. Gallagher will tell you what to shoot and not to shoot during cut-scenes, and you must pass all of these stages to go on to the next part of the game.
This next portion is the main gallery, where you'll have to shoot things like basketballs and rubber ducks, plus play a memory-like game with light sequences. If you pass this portion of the game, you'll move on to the "Death By Melon" final stage, where you'll have to stop Gallagher from destroying one of two melons on either side of the screen — by shooting his mallet, not Gallagher. ~ Jon Thompson, All Game Guide
