Turn by turn, players lead humanity to rule the galaxy in this space-faring, empire-building sequel from Stardock. Alongside sci-fi "four X" titles such as Master of Orion and Space Empires, the Galactic Civilizations series has been "eXpanding" since the mid-1990s. Players seek to create the galaxy's most powerful empire, among dozens of competing civilizations, by developing and applying economic growth, technological advance, military strength, and diplomatic prowess.

Beginning with a homemade shareware version of the game, the Galactic Civilizations series has evolved over the years, and this 2006 edition boasts all of the refinement and sophistication accrued throughout this history. “I downloaded this title from Stardock's Impulse system. (not a great experience) But the game is pretty cool. It reminds me alot of Alpha Centauri. Its basically a Civ clone.. in space.. and with a heaveir emphasis on units, and customizing them”
