DESCRIPTION
One of four popular arcade titles adapted by Parker Bros. for the Odyssey 2, Frogger undergoes something of a metamorphosis due to the unique memory limitations of this console. The highway and river portions of the standard arcade version are split into two different levels to allow the machine to have enough sprites on the screen for each area. Otherwise, the basic rules of the game remain the same: avoid the cars and trucks on the highway, but stay on the logs and the backs of turtles to cross the river. Graphics aren't terribly impressive, though there is a unique intro screen replacing the usual "Select Game" startup screen.
Frogger is the easiest to find of the Parker Bros. Odyssey 2 games, but a warning to collectors — it seldom works on American Odyssey 2 consoles. Originally intended for the European Videopac, Frogger is a rare case of a Videopac game that isn't compatible with the Odyssey 2. While some U.S. Odyssey 2 owners have had success getting the game to work, most, especially those with later-model consoles, cannot get it to load past the startup screen. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
