The timeless question of "Why did the chicken cross the road?" can finally be answered by Atari 2600 owners: To earn points, of course! Why else would a chicken be crazy enough to travel across ten lanes of traffic?

Freeway will have each player engage in a bit of fowl play by guiding a chicken up and down one of eight different expressways, trying to score as many points as possible within two minutes and 16 seconds. Every time you guide your chicken safely to the other side of the road, you'll receive one point, and the player with the most points after time runs out is considered the winner. Depending on the level selected, there will be one or two types of vehicles (cars or trucks) moving across the screen at varying speeds. A chicken will be knocked back one lane whenever it makes contact with traffic, so players must wait until it is safe before making their way up the screen. Too easy for you?
