Other than strange creatures attacking you, Frankenstein doesn't distinguish itself from other platformers available for the NES. Although featured prominently on the unique box art, Frankenstein only shows up in the introduction, during some cutscenes and at the end. The graphics are nicely detailed and colorful in most places, but some sections look a little rough. Your character's punches and kicks are standard for this type of game, the weapons are mediocre, and several bosses aren't very clever, making them easy to defeat. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
