DESCRIPTION
Final Fantasy V makes its first U.S. appearance on a Nintendo platform with this enhanced remake of 1992's Super Famicom title. The storyline follows a party of four valiant adventurers on a worldly quest to find a missing king, stop an army of marauding beasts, and reunite the legendary elemental crystals with their kingdom guardians. Players will board ships, hop on bird-like chocobos, ride dragons, and more while crossing diverse landscapes and encountering random battles with an assortment of creatures. Updates to the original game include reorganized menu screens, new dialogue, and sound improvements.
Final Fantasy V continues the play style found in previous installments while incorporating a job system, which lets players customize the party's abilities and skills at any time by assigning each hero two distinct roles. Four more jobs have been added to the handheld version, including the necromancer, bomber, gladiator, and prophet classes, bringing the total number to 25. Also new is a 30-level dungeon filled with deadlier monsters and powerful items. Final Fantasy V Advance is the third Final Fantasy RPG remake on GBA after 2004's Final Fantasy I & II and 2005's Final Fantasy IV Advance. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“Final Fantasy V is a rather unlucky game. Despite being good in it's own right is overshadowed by the much more popular IV and VI.
+ Story. Yes, it's another version of the "Crystals in trouble, go Warriors of Light!" which is the plot for most of the early Final Fantasies but that doesn't mean it's bad. Forget that it's something you've heard before and just enjoy it!
+ Job system. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first Final Fantasy to truly implement the job system. I personally love the system and it's really one of the game's best points. There are some balance issues with the jobs but nothing too troubling. (notes: Final Fantasy I also had jobs but they just had you compose a party. Final Fantasy III also had jobs but saw no international release 'till the DS version.)
+ Hidden passages. Perhaps it's just an excuse to get people to use the Thief class but there are plenty of hidden goodies scattered in the dungeons.
+ Blue Magic. I personally love it and this is the game where we see it for the first time... awesome :D
- Story. Character development and the story itself are rather limited compared to other Final Fantasies. This is also the reason the game is overshadowed bij IV and VI.
- Linear. Like most older RPGs this game is really linear. I usually don't mind but there is (besides the extra GBA content) nothing to do besides the main storyline.”

“Well, St.AMP Suggested this mastery on thanksgiving: Samurai (to have two hands), Mystic Knight, Ninja and Monk. I would prolly add Hunter to that (for X Attack). So I load this game up and... I...”

“My favourite Final Fantasy of all (not counting the Mana Series spin off). Plot is the usual substandard piece of Final Fantasy trash, but the ability to go all munchkin on the classes amuses me greatly.”
