It's still one of my favourite games in my favourite genre. It's just a shame that they butchered the translation so horribly on the psp remake.

“I never played a tactics combat game before this one, and the first one I ever played was quite possibly the most memorable game I've ever played.
The story was dramatic, dark, deep, satirical, heart warming, and revenge ridden. If the Zodiac Brave story was an actual book I would like to read it. You also feel so accomplished anytime you complete and fight, even the random fights. At no point are you ever safe even from the easiest of monsters. They grow with you, and get more challenging as you grind.
Want a tough game, and an incredible story? This is the game for you my friend.”

“When I originally saw Final Fantasy Tactics, I was wary. It seemed like one of -those- games. An offshoot of a popular series just to tap into a different market. 'RPG and Strategy gameplay? Can't work' I thought. Instead, I slept two hours a day and spent the rest of my time addictedly maxing out job levels, farming money for better equipment, handcrafting my party to absolute perfection and swearing every time I died to a boss battle. How much do you need to say? I could go on about the amazing music and graphics for it's time, I could blather about the way it seamlessly blends roleplaying with strategy in a way I've only seen in two other games to date, or maybe I could rattle off the overall score. But why? It is a gem of a game that if you can find it, will keep you entertain, curious and awed throughout it's amazing journey through the life of a man in a time of political strife and chaos, through the betrayals and alliances, through the dreams and sorrows of every main character as you race to save the world from destruction. It's amazing. Pure and simple.”

The battle system is fun and rather addicting to those who like strategy. The depth of some of the characters and the conspiracies around them just pulls you more into the story.”

“I got pretty far with this game before the disk dies out on me, lol. I plan to continue playing when I buy it again, but it is an amazingly fun Strategy rpg, the only FF kinda game I can stand really, this one and FFT A2.”

“This is, without question to me, the best Final Fantasy game ever released. The story is epic (even if this version isn't as nicely translated as the PSP version), the gameplay is phenomenal, the class system is interesting... It may not be a standard game in the series, but in some ways, I think that is partly why I liked it the most.”

“Memorable characters, a tunneling story driven by politics and religious scandal, and some mind-bending battle strategy make FFT one of the great pillars of the Squaresoft dynasty. It's chess. Except fun.”

“I liked the 3D battlefield, it was kinda like chess only you could shoot the other pieces with magic. And it had the RPG elements and job system, and anything Square is involved in I tend to like.”
