Hailed by critics as one of the best titles in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy IV makes its DS debut as an updated version of the original Super Famicom game. Heroes and villains are now rendered in 3D, and the storyline is told through cinematic cut-scenes enhanced with voice acting. As you guide the dark knight Cecil on a quest for redemption in the mysterious Valley of Mist, you'll confront monsters through an "active time" battle system designed to heighten the group-oriented action. Several gameplay changes have been included as well, such as party member Rydia's ability to create a summoned monster to fight in her stead. “Considering the fact that I never got to play the original, I think it's pretty good. Golbez isn't terribly intimidating in chibi polygons, though.

“I haven't tried the remake yet but from what I recall of the early Final Fantasy games was that there were periods where if you wanted to progress you really had to grind up some levels.

Remakes always frighten me a bit.. I'm still burned by the GBC remake of Crystalis; they changed all the music! Hopefully they kept the soundtrack in FFIV, I still love some of the tracks from that game :D”
