In Fighter Bomber for the Atari ST, you can fly seven of the world's most advanced military hardware and classic jet aircraft, including the McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle, the General Dynamics F-111F Aardvark and the MIG-27 Flogger D. You are given the historical and technical information for each of the aircraft.
In addition to choosing what to fly, you can select what kind of enemy aircraft to engage while on various missions. These include the F-14 Tom-Cat, the Mirage 2000 and five others. There are four missions to complete: Covert, Tactical, Strategic and Offensive, each of which must be completed in succession.
Based on the actual Strategic Air Command's annual bombing competition, Fighter Bomber takes place above South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. You'll fly over rivers, highways, mountains, pastures, farms, cities, lakes and many other types of terrain and locations. The game gives you 12 points of view, including a "free spirit" point of view in which you can look at the world from an infinite number of points. Each of the bombers you will fly is outfitted with a number of missiles and bombs.
After you have completed all of the missions, the game is not necessarily over. You can create and design your own missions and exchange them with other Fighter Bomber pilots. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
