DESCRIPTION
FIFA: Road to the World Cup 98 is doubtably the last FIFA title to hit the now aged Super Nintendo. Developed and ported by XYZ Productions, this is yet another sound improvement in terms of features over past titles with the added bonus of World Cup 98 action.
Game modes include Friendly (quick play mode), Road to World Cup (qualify World Cup mode), League (Compete in a dozen different leagues around the world), Shootout (practice and compete in this battle of penalty shootouts) and Practice. Other great features include sixteen players per club and International side including substitution options, authentic player ratings in fourteen areas, field coverage strategies, action or simulation plays for those who want realism or quick fun, team strategies such as all defend, all attack, defend and attack and five team formations. A total of eleven domestic leagues are also included and feature such leagues as the US, Brazil, England and Italian while all the expected International sides have made the cut.
Options include between two and forty five minute halves, two difficulties, two player action, computer or manual goalie control, fouls, injuries, offsides, replays, passing arrows, power circles, player numbers, clock (continuous or stop when out of play), time display, auto replays and three different pitch textures including checkered, horizontal and vertical. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
