DESCRIPTION
EA Sports' long running FIFA series has always been the forerunner in soccer titles despite a few problems back in '97. FIFA 99 continues this trend yet again, achieving the soccer crown this time with a different, but, once again, satisfying attempt.
Modes include Season, European Dream League, Custom Cup, Custom League, Training, Quick Start, Golden Goal, and EA Sports cup, giving a very large range of modes to play in. FIFA 99 also features over 250 teams, both from domestic and International competition. On-the-fly tactics have also been incorporated while the AI (Artificial Intelligence player) is far more aggressive than before, turning matches into fast scoring, little dribbling arcade feasts. Game play is also more fluid, thanks to better control, while edit features, such as team, player, and all the usual options have been included.
FIFA 99 also features a total of twenty stadiums, all with impressively rendered introductions that will blow you away. Speaking of presentation, 3-D animations are now more extensive than ever with more close up cut scenes and varied details and animations. Commentary is again provided by Motson and Lynham and atmosphere is good with realistic chants and detailed sound effects. Tracks by Gearwhore and Fat Boy Slim are also provided while menus are very well presented again.
Multi-player options include up to four players over same screen, LAN, modem, and serial port, giving a good range of options in multi-play. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
